Why You Might See a Google Warning When Signing In to Sequence-R (and How to Bypass It)

If you’re trying to connect your Google account to Sequence-R, you might encounter a message that says:

“This app hasn’t been approved by Google.”

Don’t worry — your account is safe, and this message is expected.

Why This Happens

Google requires apps that access Gmail or other sensitive data via their API to undergo an annual security review and verification process. This process is mostly bureaucratic and costly, and we are currently not enrolled in it.

We’ve prioritized our focus on improving the core product and integrations — especially since Sequence-R is already fully approved by Microsoft and doesn’t trigger any warnings when connecting Microsoft Outlook or Office 365 accounts.

This warning doesn’t mean there’s a security issue with Sequence-R. It just means Google hasn’t reviewed us for their internal approval checklist this year.

Is It Safe to Continue?

Yes — absolutely.

If you’re happy to proceed, you can follow a few quick steps to grant access:

How to Connect Your Gmail to Sequence-R

1. When the warning screen appears, click “Advanced” or “Hide Advanced”
2. Then click “Go to Sequencer”
3. On the next page:
• Click Continue
• Select what Sequence-R can access (email, contacts, etc.)
• Click Select All

Once completed, your Gmail account will be connected and ready to use with Sequence-R.

You only need to do this once.

What We’re Doing

We’re actively monitoring feedback from users and evaluating whether to enroll in the Google verification program again. In the meantime, rest assured:
• Sequence-R never stores your email contents or passwords
• All data is encrypted and handled securely
• You remain in control at all times
